Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that breaks traditional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Uncovered
According to the formal release, "An unusual encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of banned rituals and fearsome transformations echo through the darkness." The plot features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret cult.
The questline focuses on "strange trials and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a striking moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Bonus Features
Players who finish the adventure will acquire an unique katana together with numerous objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Update
This update also adds the game's latest complimentary story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Collaborations
This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that clearly echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
