Area Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then discovered many other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior representative commented the vandalism made him without words and required to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
